Sept. 7: Monday Night Football
Monday Night Football is bad. That is because Monday Night Football
is a tradition of the National Football League, which is bad. Here is
the reason the NFL is bad - it sucks compared to the Canadian Football
League, which is better and more exciting. The problem is that most
people disagree with that statement. Here is a list of possible reasons
why people might think the NFL is better than the CFL:
1. They're dummies.
2. The NFL is run by Americans, who have lots of money and so they will hype the games up on TV and make them look like World War III.
3. Whining wusses watched the CFL and said: "Wahhh! The field is too big and they only have three downs. Let's make the field smaller and give the players one more down so the game will be easier."
4. They're dummies.
The final game of the NFL season is called the Super Bowl. It is almost always a boring game. One team usually blows the other team out (although there have been some exceptions.) The final game of the CFL season is called the Grey Cup and it is almost always an exciting game. Sometimes it is played in the snow, which is something American football fans do not like.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are my favourite team. I have seen them win the Grey Cup three times. My dad's favourite team is the Calgary Stampeders. He has seen them win the Grey Cup six times (though he was only five when they won their first Grey Cup so he probably doesn't remember that.) Before he was a Stampeders fan, he was a Toronto Argonauts fan and they have won the Grey Cup 11 times in his life. My friend, Jeff, is a Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan and he has seen his team win the Grey Cup three times. There is a team called the Edmonton Eskimos and they have won the Grey Cup a few times too but only silly people cheer for them.
My point is that the CFL is awesome because you can be reasonably assured that you will see your team win the championship at least once in your life. We have a new team in the league right now called the Ottawa RedBlacks and there is a good chance they will be league champions sometime over the next 20 years. That's well within the scope of anyone's lifetime.
The same can't be said of other sports leagues. Does anyone expect the Cleveland Browns to win the Super Bowl anytime soon? How about the Columbus Blue Jackets or Vancouver Canucks winning the Stanley Cup? Will the Cleveland Indians win the World Series by the time I'm a senior citizen? The answer to these questions is no. That's why the CFL is so great. Nine teams, baby. Be a fan.

2. Get Prince to perform at halftime.
3. Make Chunky Soup commercials.
4. Bore Canadians who are used to faster more unpredictable football games.
In conclusion, Monday Night Football is a waste of time and the best football is always played north of the 49th.
