Aug. 27: All the midnights in the world
I'm actually not sure why 12 a.m. is called midnight. It really isn't
the middle of the night unless the sun sets at 8 p.m. and rises at 4
a.m. Tonight, the sun will set at about 8:45 p.m. and will rise tomorrow
at 6:30 a.m. That means that tonight, midnight is at about 1:07 a.m.
We need to stop referring to 12 a.m. as midnight.
-
When I was a kid, I was excited when it was midnight. That's because I was usually asleep when 12 a.m. hit, so if I was still up, it meant I was doing something fun.
I remember having a sleepover with some friends and we were up late watching movies and goofing off and then I looked at the clock and it was 1:30 in the morning.
Wow. That must have been some fun.

All the midnights in the world is probably a metaphor for insomnia. I used to be a real bad insomniac - probably because I worried so much. I still worry, but not as much as I used to. Now what keeps me up is my imagination and all the stories I want to write but I can never find the time or energy to sit down in front of the typewriter.
My life sucks.
